Koen Wanders was appointed a partner at our firm effective January 1, 2024. His practice focuses on commercial lease and real estate law, as well as mergers and acquisitions in corporate law.

Koen graduated with a degree in Dutch Private Law from VU University Amsterdam in mid-2013. During his studies, he gained relevant work experience at various national and international law firms and at a major Dutch bank.

Before joining Fruytier Lawyers in Business as an attorney, he worked for two years as an attorney at Fellinger Corporate Law in Amsterdam. Koen specializes in corporate and real estate law and advises on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and a wide range of real estate matters, with a focus on commercial lease law and real estate transactions. He has also gained experience through a client secondment advising on the development of large-scale solar parks in the Netherlands.

Koen is a team player with a goal-oriented mindset and stands out for his meticulousness and his organizational and communication skills. Koen is a member of the Association of Tenancy Law Attorneys (VHA), the specialization association for attorneys in tenancy law recognized by the Netherlands Bar Association, and successfully completed the associated postgraduate specialization program in 2022.

Koen loves cooking, traveling (even to faraway places), Ajax, and all ball sports. You can often find him on the hockey field or the padel court.

He doesn’t shy away from other athletic challenges either; for example, he climbed Kilimanjaro and ran the Amsterdam Marathon.
