Acquisition of De Schroef Shipyard Successfully Completed
Fruytier Lawyers in Business advised Norden Shipyard, a subsidiary of Hicri Ercili Shipyard—a major player in the shipping industry—on the acquisition of Scheepswerf De Schroef from H. Hoornaert.
De Schroef is located in Sas van Gent, along the busy shipping route of the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal. The shipyard offers a range of services for seagoing and inland waterway vessels up to 162 meters in length, including repairs, conversions, outfitting, and new construction. The facilities, which include two dry docks and a slipway, are fully equipped to perform work both above and below the waterline. Today, it is one of the most important repair shipyards in the region, with two floating docks, a slipway, a repair dock, and workshops on a 42,000-square-meter site. Both canal vessels and offshore structures fall within the shipyard’s scope of services.
Partner Myrddin van Westendorp led the transaction together with senior associate Koen Wanders. The team also included associates Koen Boonekamp and Ravinder Sukul. Archipel advised on the tax aspects of the project, and SluisWest advised on the environmental aspects. We would like to thank all parties involved for their excellent cooperation, which led to the successful completion of the transaction.
